Our dedicated design department is comprised of industrial designers, engineers and draftspeople and employs the latest in 2D & 3D CAD design tools. Three dimensional modelling allows a high level of evaluation to occur before any prototypes are produced. These advanced systems allow rapid prototyping, finite element analysis and detailed mould flow analysis. The end result is a vast reduction in the time from concept to finished product.

Our 60 years experience in designing and supplying the world’s best value chairs and desks - has taught us a few things about how to help a person be more comfortable, concentrate longer and perform better.

People sit up to 75% of their day
Studies show that students alone can spend up to 75% of their time sitting at a desk. Sebel designed our range of chairs and desks to maximise comfort and concentration over a long period.

Good design promotes movement
Sitting in a fixed upright position all day is actually detrimental to posture and increases fatigue. The wide range of seating positions adopted by students and adults are all supported by our Postura chair due to its purposely designed wide base and flat seat.

Why good lumbar support is essential

Evans, Collins and Stewart (1992) studied furniture size misfit on 211 fit students. The below results clearly show:
55% reported sitting discomfort or pain
32% head-neck-shoulder area misfit
48% thoraco-lumbar area misfit
10% lower limb area misfit

ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATIONS

Sebel is committed to eliminating environmental impacts by regularly re-evaluating our products and adopting new and sustainable business processes.

Sebel have been awarded GECA certification on a range of furniture, based on the below criterion.

The Good Environmental Choice Accreditation (GECA) is internationally recognised and the only environmental labelling program in Australia. It indicates the environmental performance of a product from a whole of product life perspective for consumer goods. The accreditation is awarded to products that meet voluntary environmental performance standards which have been created and assessed in conformance to international environmental labelling standards.

Fitness for Purpose

SEBEL range of furniture is covered by a 5 year warranty and goes through credible quality testing processes. SEBEL has ISO 9001:2000 certificate for multiple sites. All products are extensively tested at NATA approved testing system conducted in the company’s internal laboratory.

Material Requirements

SEBEL uses timber certified under the Environmental Choice Australia Eco-Label.

Resin Identification Codes

SEBEL products have proper resin identification codes on them.

Adhesives

SEBEL uses water based adhesive and hot melt glue conforming to the requirements of Adhesives in the standard GECA 28-2006- Furniture and Fittings.

Hazardous Materials

SEBEL does not use or add any of the listed hazardous materials or prohibited substances (including PVC) during the manufacturing of the nominated products.

Post Consumption Recycling and Labelling

SEBEL products can be disassembled without specialized tools or expertise to facilitate the recovery of the constituent materials for recycling.

Product Custodianship

SEBEL has take back offers to customers for its Environmental Choice Australia Eco-labelled products.

Coatings and Treatment

The nominated SEBEL products are not coated or treated in a way that would prevent recycling.

Replacement Parts

SEBEL has a standard 5 year warranty and replacement parts policy in place.

Fabrics

Sebel Furniture is upholstering its furniture and fittings in only GECA certified fabrics or fabrics which have been assessed as part of this assessment and found to not compromise the ability of the furniture and fittings to meet the requirements o f the GECA 28 (Furniture and Fittings) Standard. This ensures that the fabrics applied to the furniture and fittings will comply with all requirements of GECA 28 (Furniture and Fittings) Standard, including those sections that apply regardless of the weight of the fabrics.

Packaging Requirements

SEBEL uses bubble wrap and cardboard boxes which can be recycled by local recycling system

Product Information

The certified SEBEL products come with sufficient product information regarding cleaning, maintenance and recycling instructions.

Environmental Regulations

SEBEL adheres to the relevant environmental regulations and has not been prosecuted for violations to environmental regulations in the past 24 months.

Labour, Anti-Discrimination and Safety Regulations

SEBEL is in compliance with the relevant social requirements and workplace regulations. The company has not been prosecuted for violations
